I talked with Flash today while we set up a friend with a training bike who is planning on participating in her first triathlon this season. We discussed some goals for our scheduled run tomorrow. I told him about the first mile split I had a few days back and we decided that even with the hills we should look for the following benchmarks on our next 4.42 mile run: another first mile split under 7:00 and an overall pace of under 8:00 miles.
I was so excited that I decided to make the bike ride I had planned for this evening a short and fast ride. I planned to push hard and finish up in 20 minutes so the legs would be fresh for tomorrow. Well, the bike is my favorite event, and it felt pretty good to be pushing hard, so the next thing I knew an hour had gone by. So I got in an hour ride in the 20 mph plus gearing. The ride felt really good, but I wonder what I will have in my tank for the run tomorrow.
Speaking of milestones, the buggo put his first poopy in the potty today and earned himself a Cranky the Crane. We put Cranky on display last night to help motivate him and motivate him it did. I have never seen an individual so inspired to drop a duce in the porcelain basket. Congratulations to him and hopefully my wife and I can build some momentum with him to making this a regular occurrence. Here is a toast to breaking down barriers and hitting milestones.
