Day 32 (Mon - 2/1)

Last night we had to bail at the last minute yesterday on plans to meet my parents for dinner due to the kiddo getting down for a late nap and cutting it short. It was a tough call, but the right thing to do for the kiddo. He is feeling much better for it today.

The legs are feeling remarkably good today considering yesterdays distance. I followed some of the recovery recommendations made in Thrive and they seem to be paying off. I found some coconut water at a local market over the weekend and have been trying that in place of other sports drinks. Apparently coconut water has more electrolytes and doesn’t come with all the artificial preservatives and sugars. The taste of the coconut water isn’t as good as the sports drinks, but the brand I bought is tolerable as it is blended with other fruit juices.

I took a recovery ride tonight for 30 minutes that kept me in the 18 mph gearing. (Not bad considering Sunday’s run.) I spent an extra 5 minutes sprinting in the 20 mph gearing but that was just for fun.

Also, I have a new month’s resolution. Be at meetings within 5 minutes of their scheduled start time. I have been doing much worse than that and I need to get better at this in order to feel good about work and ultimately be able to get home to my family earlier.
