I had to turn down a bike ride with Duce and The Dominator in order to spend some quality time with the buggo. We went to the dump and visited the library in town. However, we also got out as a family to a spot where my wife and the kiddo could take a walk while I got in a short run.
When we do this I try to hit a solid race pace so they are not left waiting for me. I ended up finishing the 3.46 mile loop in 26:07 (7:31 miles). I was given some cheers of encouragement from the buggo as I passed them in the last half mile of the run. It is such a great feeling to be cheered on by the kiddo. He motivates so much of what I do.
I feel really good especially being able to hit mid-seven miles over a 5K distance. It is giving me hope that I can get to the 8:20 pace for the half marathon portion of the 70.3. I am due for a long and slow and need to hit the bike in the next few days.
